CARBmaster Chocolate Non-Fat Ultra-Filtered Milk
(High Protein, Low Sugar, Non-Fat, Lactose Free, for the win!)
This is the best option I have been able to find to include Chocolate Milk into my meal plan without adding a bunch of sugar or calories.
Why I Like This Milk Nutritionally:
✔ High Protein! – at 11g of protein per cup this milk is 55% protein by calorie.
✔ Low Calorie! – At 80 calories per glass this is equivalent in calories to an 8oz glass of skim milk. But with 50% more protein than skim, and Chocolate for the win!
✔ 50% Less Sugar – 6g per 8oz serving. The Ultra-Filter process removes 50% of sugar!
✔ No Added Sugar – Many other chocolate milk varieties typically add sugar.
✔ Tastes Delicious! – Same consistency as regular dairy milk.
✔ Lactose-Free! – Perfect for those who are lactose intolerant.
✔ Multiple Options! – Available in 0% Chocolate, 0% Vanilla, and 0% Skim Milk and 2% Reduced Fat Milk.
Shelf Life
Like the fairlife® milk I posted previously, CARBMaster has a long shelf life—the “Best If Used By” date is often 6-8 weeks out! This makes it easy to stock up without worrying about it expiring before use. The Kroger Website claims “Guaranteed Fresh for 10 Days” after opening.
A Potential Downside – Availability
CARBmaster milk is not as widely available as some other options.
🛒 This is a Kroger brand so only found at Kroger and their affiliated brand stores as far as I know. It seems to be out of stock occasionally too. Not sure it’s super popular or just not stocked plentiful enough. When I see them I buy a couple.
Let’s wrap it up:
CARBmaster chocolate milk is a daily driver for me and one of my current staple food items. I try to keep a 3-4 week supply in my fridge to make sure I don’t run out with the occasional empty store shelf! One of my preferred protein shakes is made by mixing 8oz of this milk with a scoop of a good chocolate whey protein powder for a delicious protein shake treat. This shake helps to satisfy those occasional cravings for chocolate while providing around 35 grams of protein. This is a win-win for me!
